The Brit finished third, behind Gwen Jorgensen and Non Stanford, in the test event ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games.

Holland said she had no concerns about the water quality, despite serious allegations of contamination.

"We've been fairly well reassured that the water quality is above the standard we need it to be to swim in, so I take that as written," she said.

"If it says it's OK, it's OK."

With a laugh, she added: "I'll let you know tomorrow if I'm ill!"

Holland said she enjoyed the experience and expects it to get even better when the Games begin in August next year.

"It was brilliant, there were people cheering all the way round and I can only imagine next year it's going to be the same but 10 times better," she said.

"I think it's come together quite well. It's a taste of what we'll have next year where it will be even more organised but as far as I can see it went off without a hitch today. It was smooth and everything went well."
