A Nigerian tennis player
Omotayo was impressive in the tournament, going all the way to the final where he lost to Kai Zhang of China.
In the final, the Nigerian player lost to favourite, Zhang 3-1 in the final of the competition on Sunday, August 21.
Speaking after his silver win, Omotayo described the table tournament as the biggest hosted in the United States.
“The monthly tournament is hosted in Westchester, New York, the best table tennis centre in the US,” he told News Agency of Nigeria.
“I am happy and overwhelmed because I won amid so many Chinese players.
“Coming to the US has in one way or other improved my skills and tactics. One thing I will never do in this life is to stop believing in myself.
“Self-confidence got me a silver medal at Westchester Table Tennis tournament.”
The Nigerian tennis player has been in the United States for two months and has won five medals there.
“In the Robert Chens weekly tournament, I have won it four times in a row. I keep getting better each day because I play more matches here in the US,” he added.
“I came to the US to train and play open tournaments.”
Omotayo will be moving to Italy in September where he will play with Marcozzi Table Tennis Club.
