Benfica officially announced on Wednesday the permanent transfer of Rodrigo Rêgo to Brighton. The 21-year-old winger is now set for a new chapter in his career, moving to the Premier League.
Signed from Famalicão in the 2022/23 season, the youngster began his journey at Benfica Campus, representing the junior and U23 teams in his first two seasons.
Last season, he was called up to the senior squad, making his debut on November 21, 2025, under José Mourinho. The player started and played the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Atlético in the 4th round of the Taça de Portugal. Throughout the 2025/26 season, he featured in four more first-team matches, including a UEFA Champions League fixture against Ajax, while also accumulating 21 appearances for the B team.
In a statement, Benfica wished the athlete sporting success and personal happiness in his new challenge in England.
The Seagulls have also announced the arrival of the Portuguese U21 international on social media, confirming he has signed a five-year deal with the club.
