Club coach confirms departure

It's now official: Bernardo Silva will depart Manchester City after nine years at the end of this season, once his contract with the club expires. The news, previously reported by A BOLA, has been confirmed by Pep Lijnders, assistant coach to Pep Guardiola.

When he's not playing, his absence will be felt. All good stories come to an end, and I hope he enjoys these final months – there are only six weeks left – and has a good send-off. He deserves all that attention.

Benfica has been linked with the future of the Citizens' captain and Portuguese international, but as A BOLA has also reported, a return to the Lisbon club is unlikely, at least for now.
