Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has signed a new five-year-deal with his English Premier League side, Watford.

Ighalo has had a fantastic year for the club, scoring 22 league goals as they gain promotion to the EPL from the Championship.

“The Hornets are pleased to confirm that Odion Ighalo has signed a new five-year deal at Vicarage Road,” Watford announced on their website.

“The Nigerian striker, who has scored 21 goals in 42 appearances since signing for Watford in July 2014, has further committed his future to the club until 2020."

Ighalo joined Watford on loan ahead last year but the move was made permanent three months into the season.

The 26-year-old has opened his league account this season scoring in Watford’s 2-2 draw at .

The striker was excluded by Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh for the goalless draw with Tanzania in a 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifers but Ighalo has vowed to work hard to regain his shirt.

“I will say I am satisfied with the fact that I will keep on working hard on doing my best for my club which I hope will earn me a recall to the Eagles’ fold," Ighalo told .

"I cannot fault his (Sunday Oliseh) decisions because he is the boss."
