Super Eagles striker nets winner for Watford

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo celebrated his new five-year-contract by netting the winner for Watford in their league game against  Swansea.

Garry Monk men were looking to build on their impressive start to the new season as they visited Watford in match day five of the English Premier League.

Ikechi Anya at left-back was a thorn in the flesh of Swansea as he caused havoc in the first half.

Sebastian Prodl fired over after 11 minutes and Almen Abdi also had a shot deflected wide off Neil Taylor as Watford looked for their first win of the season.

Troy Deeney missed the target despite having a clear sight of goal from the edge of the area.

Swansea also had chances in the first half that ended goalless.

Andre Ayew who is the league's player of the month of August incepted a ball and played on Bafetimbi Gomis who backside.

Ighalo broke the deadlock in the 59th minute pouncing on a ball to slot it past Swansea goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański to score the winner.

Swansea had the chance to comeback in the game after Watford were reduced to 10-men.

Behrami received his marching orders after lashing out at Ayew’s leg but Watford held tight to register their win of the season.
