Nsofor recently joined Cape Town FC which is managed by South African legend McCarthy after he was released by German Bundesliga 2 side SV Darmstadt.

Before he joined Cape Town City FC, the former West Ham striker was wanted by Pirates coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic because of his experience.

According to Pirates had offered Nsofor a contract of over R500,000 (about N13m) per annum to join the club.

McCarthy, however, swooped in quickly to match Pirates’ offer to get  the former Inter Milan striker to sign for Cape Town City FC.

McCarthy and Nsofor were teammates at West Ham between 2010 and 2011 where the South African football legend acted as a mentor to the Nigerian striker.

Nsofor joined the South Africa Premier League side on a one-year deal after he had a two-week trial with them.
