Agency convicts 12 for illegal possession of petroleum products

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State command, says its legal department successfully prosecuted and convicted 12 persons for dealing in and possession of petroleum products illegally.

The Commandant, Mr Tajudeen Balogun, said in Lagos on Thursday that the cases ran for four to 24 months before judgement was given.

Balogun stated that the defendants were sentenced to  20 and 24 months respectively.

Those convicted are, Johnson Gadu, Stanley Longlife, Daniel Kpoku, Emmanuel Okorobia, Felix Okuwanisola, Abbas Muhammed.

Others are, Tola Kwami, Michael Dansu, Moses David, Jacob Apaloo, Senaya Edo and Sentol Sunday.

“ Judgments for these cases were gotten on Feb. 2  May 2, and May 16, 2017,” Balogun said.

The Commandant said in a statement that  the convicts were arrested for dealing and possession of petroleum products without authority.

He commended efforts of the legal department for their commitment to duty, which secured the conviction of those arrested.

Balogun also said that the command was determined to curb activities of vandals and other criminals in the state.
