A round-up of games played in the Matchday 36 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)

Plateau United made a step closer to a historic Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title with a 1-1 home draw to Rivers United in one of the Matchday 36 fixtures played on Sunday, August 27.

Rivers United took the lead through Emeka Ogbugh before Peter Eneji equalised for Plateau United.

Second placed MFM FC lost 1-0 away from home to Abia Warriors.Arinze Nwangwu ‘s only goal was enough for the home side.

Enugu Rangers were impressive, getting a 2-1 win away at Remo Stars.

On Friday, August 25, Akwa United and Lobi Stars kicked off proceedings for Matchday 36 at the Uyo Township Stadium in Uyo with the home team winning 2-1. Musa Newman and Gabriel Okechukwu scored for the home side while Kingsley Eduwo was Lobi’s only scorer.

Gombe United beat visiting ABS 2-1 with goals from Musa Usman whose brace was sandwiched by Wasiu Alalade goal for ABS.

Katsina United got a boost in their fight for survival with a comfortable 2-0 win over visiting Sunshine Stars. Chinedu Udechukwu netted a brace for the home side.

Enyimba closed in on third-placed with a 4-0 win over Wikki Tourists in Calabar. Ikechukwu Igbenegbu scored in the ninth minute before Stephen Chukwude, Stanley Dimgba and Chinonso Okonkwo completed the rout.

Adamu Hassan scored the only goal as Nasarawa United beat Kano Pillars 1-0 while Shooting Stars got a 1-1 away draw at El-Kanemi Warriors.

Niger Tornadoes in a rescheduled game on Monday, August 28 beat FC IfeanyiUbah 2-1.
