Remarkably, Norway stands as the only team in the world that has played multiple matches against Brazil and remains undefeated.

In their previous World Cup appearance in 1998, the Scandinavians famously defeated the “Seleção” 2-1 in the group stage, in what was the only official match between the two nations. Tore-André Flo (84’) and Kjetil Rekdal (89’ – penalty) secured a late comeback for the European side after Bebeto had opened the scoring. This victory propelled Norway into the Round of 16, where they were subsequently eliminated by Italy, losing 1-0 to the “Squadra Azzurra.”

Overall, Norway's record against Brazil stands at two wins and two draws across four matches, three of which were friendlies. In 1997, the Scandinavians secured an even more convincing 4-2 victory against the “Seleção” in a friendly. The last encounter between the two teams was a 1-1 draw in a friendly match in 2006.

Of course, history doesn't play on the pitch. The Brazilian squad, led by Carlo Ancelotti, will undoubtedly be eager to break this negative streak against Norway. However, it's not out of the question that the tradition could continue.
