Coach Samson Siasia in an interview revealed that the players are set to boycott their next game in protest of non-payment of their Rio 2016 Olympic Games allowances.

“Is that how you will treat your own children? We are not street kids. . There is no match bonus,”Siasia told .

“Everything is upside down and the boys don’t want to play anymore. Whatever they want to do, I am with them. They are right for fighting for their rights,” he added.

President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick has quickly come in to calm the players promising that payments would soon be made to them.

“I just finished a long telephone discussion with Siasia and I explained to him the situation the NFF is in and why he has not received his salary,” Pinnick told the official website of the NFF.

“As I explained last week, we received some money from CAF and I directed that the money be used to offset the salaries of the U23 team coaches and also for the coaches.

“The money has come into the NFF account but it has to first go into our TSA (Treasury Single Account) before we can access it and then use it. The vouchers for the payment have already been done.”

Pinnick also revealed that the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung has sent accountants to the U-23 team hotel to pay the allowances of players and officials.

“The Honourable Minister instructed the accountants to also pay the four alternate players, who are not accredited for the Games. We commend him for his efforts,” NFF president added.

Nigeria will on Saturday, August 13 face Denmark in the quarter-finals of the football event of Rio 2016.

The match will be played at the Arena Fonte Nova at 8pm Nigerian time.
