Stanley Eguma, the Head Coach of Rivers United Football Club, on Sunday in Port Harcourt said his team was able to defeat visiting Nasarawa United FC because of tactical changes.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the host team defeated the Lafia-based Nasarawa United 1-0 in the week five match at the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Port Harcourt.

The game which saw Godless Asomoah scoring the only goal in the third minute of second half’s added time was in the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Eguma told sports writers after the match that even though Nassarawa United played a good game, the difference was in the tactical changes he effected.

"I am happy that my team won at the end of the game, but Nassarawa United are a good side.

Eguma said his team held the ball as a result of the change and was able to disorganise Nasarawa United’s midfield and defence.

On his part, Kabiru Dogo, the coach of Nasarawa United, said it was a defensive error that led to the goal his team conceded.

"We had already hoped to leave Port Harcourt with one point, but unfortunately we lost it.

"We will go back home to and make sure that we do not lose concentration in our next match,’’ he said.
