The NFF has been rocked by a financial crisis which is threatening preparations for the Super Eagles2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia on Sunday, October 9.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick on Wednesday, October 5 appeared before the Senate Committee on Sports to lament the lack of funding ahead of the Super Eagles qualifier.

According to African Football, Saraki has ordered an enquiry into the sponsorship account of the NFF to ascertain if they are broke or not.

“The Senate President has asked the NFF to present their sponsorship accounts since 2015 for him to take a position on their request for a special government bailout,” a top official told AfricanFootball.com.

“This account is to be presented today (Thursday), just as the Senate President admitted he has received reports on how monies from sponsorships have been applied over time.”

Pulse Sports learnt that the NFF are also soliciting for funds to pay the sum of over N300m owed to sports agent who booked flights for Super Eagles players.

It was also learnt that the NFF pleaded with players to fly economy while they were coming into the country ahead of the Zambia clash.

Those who flew first class were asked to pay the balance themselves.
