Mo Farah to race at Commonwealth Games for England

The 31-year-old has never won a medal at the Games but will have two chances to rectify that after being selected for the 5,000 and 10,000 metres, the events he claimed gold in during London 2012.

Farah, who made a successful return to the track in Portland on Sunday, could become the first athlete in history to claim the full set of European, Commonwealth, world and Olympic 5,000 and 10,000m titles.

Another Olympic champion, long jumper Greg Rutherford, was named in England's squad of 129.

Rutherford told England Athletics: "The Commonwealth Games is going to be an amazing competition and I know that all of us on the team will be looking forward to putting in our best possible performances."

Following the opening ceremony on July 23, there will be 11 days of competition across 17 sports.
