Bautista underwent an MRI after hurting his knee during Toronto's loss against the Tampa Bay Rays in MLB on Tuesday.

The injury occurred when six-time All-Star Bautista got his feet caught in the turf during a defensive play in right field.

Toronto called up Junior Lake from the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons to take Bautista's roster spot while he is out.

Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said the organization is hopeful Jose Bautista will not be out much longer than two weeks.

It is Bautista's second DL stint this season. The 35-year-old missed 30 games in June and July because of a nagging toe injury.

He has played in just 80 games for the Blue Jays this season, hitting a paltry .222 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs.
