The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly close to finalizing a deal with head coach Taylor Jenkins, according to ESPN. The 41-year-old specialist served as an assistant under Mike Budenholzer during the 2018-19 season with the Bucks before taking the helm of the Memphis Grizzlies. Jenkins went on to become the most successful coach in Grizzlies history, accumulating 250 wins and leading the team to the playoffs three times before his dismissal in March 2025.
Over the past few days, the Bucks' management held meetings with Taylor Jenkins to secure his appointment.
The American coach will arrive in Milwaukee at a challenging time, as the team failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time after nine consecutive appearances. Former coach Doc Rivers leaves a tough task for his successor; Milwaukee finished the regular season with 32 wins and 50 losses. Over the last three seasons under Rivers, the team posted a combined record of 97-103.
According to ESPN, team star Giannis Antetokounmpo was not involved in the selection process for the next head coach and has not had positive communication with club management recently. The Greek basketball player has only one season remaining on his contract with the Bucks and has yet to agree to terms for a new deal.
