Milan Officially Passes on Füllkrug

AC Milan will not exercise their €5 million option to buy Niclas Füllkrug from West Ham. Wolfsburg has reportedly shown interest in the player.

The German forward joined San Siro on loan on February 1st, a last-minute move after the Rossoneri struggled to secure other targets. Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, for instance, failed his medical examination.

Füllkrug made 16 appearances for Milan in Serie A, scoring one goal in a 1-0 victory over Lecce on January 18th. However, he started only three of those matches.

Instead, Max Allegri often preferred to deploy Rafael Leão in a 'false nine' role, even when Santiago Giménez was sidelined with an injury.
