Nigerian basketball star
Gbinije is an American-born basketballer of Nigerian descent who has played for the D’Tigers- Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team.
The shooting guard last season played for the Detroit Pistons who selected him with the 49th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
The former Syracuse University star only managed 32 minutes on the court for the Pistons before a sprained ankle ruled him out of the rest of the season.
“Gbinije signs for a year with the Warriors,” the statement on the franchise’s official websites announced.
The 25-year-old initially joined the Warriors training camp before he signed a one-year-contract with the franchise.
Gbinije was part of the D’Tigers team that won the 2015 AfroBasket title in Tunisia, he is however not with the team at the ongoing 2017 AfroBasket tournament co-hosted by Tunisia and Senegal.
