Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe expressed his delight following their El Clasico victory over Barcelona and reaching the milestone of 100 goals in Los Blancos' colors. However, the French star emphasized that his individual milestone takes a back seat to the team's success, urging his teammates to stay grounded after securing a fifth consecutive win.
"I'm very happy. I think everyone knows how much I love scoring goals and helping the team that way. But today, that's just a detail because the most important thing is the victory. I believe this win will give the entire squad a massive confidence boost. As for the goals, I'm confident I will score many more," Mbappe said.
The Frenchman stressed that their winning run must not lead to complacency.
"Five wins mean nothing for Real Madrid. We have to keep going because we want to win every match. We sent a strong message today, but we shouldn't think the season is over. Next week in Santander, we must show the same intensity," the forward insisted.
Mbappe also praised the squad's collective effort in the derby.
"The truth is that the real hero today is the team. We knew we had to step up physically and act as one unit. We prepared well because we've been winning our recent games, playing strong football, and showing the right mentality. Today, we gave everything. We had difficult spells, but also periods where we dominated. In the end, it's a huge victory, but it only counts for three points, and to win the title, we still need to pick up a lot more," he added.
"If we want to achieve our goals this season, we have to do it together. There is more than enough quality in this squad—anyone who says otherwise is lying. But only by working as a team will we lift the trophies we are aiming for," Mbappe concluded.
