Maresca Backs Man City Ownership 100%: "There's No Other Club I'd Rather Manage"
"I completely trust the club. I trust it because I believe in the people who work here. That's one of the reasons I came. There is no other club in the world I'd rather be at," Maresca stated at Friday's press conference. The 56-year-old Italian took charge of the team in June, having previously worked at City as part of Pep Guardiola's coaching staff.
An independent commission ruled last week that Manchester City had entered into sham contracts with multiple commercial partners in an effort to artificially inflate revenues and reduce costs. Over a nine-season period between 2009 and 2018, the sums involved reportedly exceeded £900 million (approximately $1.2 billion).
The ten-time English champions continue to deny any wrongdoing and have appealed the ruling. "I have 100 per cent trust in the owner, the CEO, the sporting director, and the entire organisation. I have no doubts whatsoever. I spoke with the club's leadership about the whole matter, and we all trust them. The right time to comment will come when we win our appeal," Maresca added, as quoted by AFP.
