Marco Bezzecchi wins Indonesian Grand Prix as Jorge Martin regains MotoGP championship lead
Marco Bezzecchi claimed his fifth victory of the MotoGP season and his first since his home Italian Grand Prix in late May with a dominant performance at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
The factory Aprilia rider bided his time behind pole-sitter Raul Fernandez for the opening two-thirds of the 27-lap race before executing a decisive move at the start of lap 19. Once out in front, Bezzecchi delivered an inch-perfect ride, setting a pace Fernandez simply could not match to take the chequered flag by 4.2 seconds over the Trackhouse Aprilia rider.
Aprilia factory teammate Jorge Martin completed the podium in third on Lombok Island, reclaiming the championship lead with five rounds remaining. The Spaniard capitalised on Marc Marquez finishing sixth, which nevertheless marked the reigning world champion's first-ever full race distance finish at Mandalika.
Ai Ogura secured a historic top-four lockout for Aprilia by finishing fourth ahead of Pedro Acosta, who rounded out the top five. Brothers Marc and Alex Marquez crossed the line in sixth and seventh, while Fabio Di Giannantonio, Fabio Quartararo, and Enea Bastianini completed the top 10. Brad Binder, Luca Marini, Johann Zarco, Franco Morbidelli, and Alex Rins also finished in the points.
