Manchester United continues to actively scout the transfer market for reinforcements on the left flank, with Lewis Hall emerging as the primary target, according to "The Athletic." Doubts at Old Trafford regarding their approach stemmed from several uncertainties: Patrick Dorgu's exact role, and whether Marcus Rashford would stay or if a new player would be sought. Ultimately, manager Michael Carrick decided Dorgu would be more effective in an attacking role, as he was utilized last season. Rashford, reportedly deeply disappointed by Barcelona's decision not to sign him, is now increasingly likely to remain with the "Red Devils" for the upcoming campaign. With Luke Shaw being Carrick's only option in that position, and having played almost constantly last season, the decision was made to bring in a left-back, with Lewis Hall's name surfacing months ago.
The left-back had an excellent season last campaign, featuring in 47 matches, providing two assists, and scoring one goal. However, towards the end of the season, he was deployed as a right-back, a role the former Chelsea player reportedly disliked. He also missed out on Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad, for which Lewis Hall is said to have blamed manager Eddie Howe, severely deteriorating their relationship. The player is valued at approximately 40 million euros, but it's unlikely that St. James' Park would agree to part with one of their most marketable players for less than 50 million euros.
