Manchester United has officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer, making him the club's second summer acquisition. The 35-year-old Welsh international has penned a two-year deal with an option for a further season. This announcement comes just a day after the Old Trafford club confirmed the arrival of Andrey Santos from Chelsea. The signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa is also expected to be formalized in the coming hours or tomorrow.
"I am incredibly proud to sign for Manchester United. I'm joining an amazing group of goalkeepers and I can't wait to push each other to maintain the highest standards this club demands. This is a truly special opportunity – everyone can see what an exciting time this is for the club, and I'm eager to play my part and support my teammates, helping the group move forward," stated Karl Darlow.
The experienced shot-stopper has made 279 career appearances, including 74 in the Premier League for Newcastle and Leeds. He has also featured for Nottingham Forest, Newport County, Walsall, and Hull City. He has earned 15 caps for the Welsh national team over the past three years, following the retirement of long-serving Dragons goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey. Yesterday, the Red Devils announced the transfer of Andrey Santos, who arrived from Chelsea for 56 million euros.
