With captain Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Chris Smalling missing, a full strength Arsenal were expected to run over Manchester United.
Though Arsenal had the first chance on goal through Nancho Monreal, Manchester United took the lead through teenager Rashfordin the 29th minute, finishing off after Gabriel Paulista's poor clearance.
Three minutes later, Rashfordin netted the second through a header from a cross.

Former United striker Danny Welbeck pulled one goal back but Rashford set up Ander Herrera for United's third before Mesut Ozil reduced the deficit.
The result left Arsenal five points behind leaders Leicester City while United returned to fifth place above West Ham.
