Injured defender returns to England after surgery

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has returned to England after undergoing surgery on his horrendous double fracture to his right leg.

The left back  suffered the injury in last week and remain in a hospital in Eindhoven for surgery.

Shaw who will be out for at least six months took to his Instagram to share a thank you message to the hospital staff after his surgery.

"I just wanna say a massive thank you to everyone at St Anna hosptal for all the care and attention they have given me the last few days," he wrote.

"Something I will never forget! Am pleased to be flying back to Manchester today so I can start my journey back onto the football pitch!"

After Sunday, September 20 3-2  league victory over Southampton, midfielder Juan Mata dedicated the win to Shaw.

"More than three points. This victory is for Luke Shaw, " he wrote on Instagram after the win.
