Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku made World Cup history after scoring in the 4-1 victory over the USA in their Round of 16 clash at the 2026 tournament.

The 33-year-old forward entered the game as a substitute in the 67th minute and sealed the final score in stoppage time. With this goal, Lukaku became the first player in World Cup history to score in four different matches after coming on from the bench.

His first such instance was in the Round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup, where he again scored against the USA in a 2-1 extra-time victory.

In the current tournament, all three of Lukaku's goals have come after being introduced as a substitute. He also registered an assist and forced an own goal from an opponent in the 1-1 group stage match against Egypt.
