Luka Doncic to LeBron James: It was an honor to play with you and learn from you

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic shared a brief message on social media following LeBron James' decision to leave the team and enter free agency.

The Slovenian phenom posted an Instagram story, stating it was an honor to play alongside and learn from one of the greatest players in NBA history.

"It was an honor to play with you and learn from you," Doncic wrote.

Doncic and LeBron spent a season and a half together in Los Angeles after Luka was acquired in one of the most surprising trades in NBA history, which sent Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks.

During their time together, Doncic and LeBron reached the NBA playoffs twice. This past season, they showcased immense potential, helping the Lakers secure the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

However, Doncic was sidelined for the playoffs due to a hamstring injury, a crucial blow for the Lakers, whose postseason run ended in the second round against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Amid growing speculation, James' future has quickly become one of the biggest talking points in the NBA, with several title contenders expected to explore the possibility of signing the four-time champion.

According to various reports, the Golden State Warriors are considered a leading candidate for James' signature.

James' former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, are also among the franchises reportedly interested in acquiring one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Shams Charania of ESPN reports that James' next decision will not be driven by money, but rather by what makes the most personal sense for him at this stage of his career.
