Former Lille coach Bruno Génésio has been appointed as the new head coach of French giants Olympique Marseille, the club announced. This news comes just hours after the departure of previous manager Habib Beye. The agreement with Génésio was reportedly reached a month ago but was officially announced today, allowing both parties to formalize the partnership. The coach has signed a two-year contract with the 1993 European champions. Bruno Génésio is expected to announce his coaching staff, which is anticipated to include his former assistants Jérémy Bréchet and Dimitri Farbos.

"The choice of Bruno Génésio naturally emerged during our discussions. His experience, his knowledge at the highest level, and his ability to build competitive teams perfectly align with Olympique Marseille's ambitions," said the club's sporting director, Grégory Lorenzi. "We share a common vision for football, for player development, and for building a team that will be competitive for a long time. We will work in close collaboration to assemble a squad capable of meeting the high demands and expectations of the fans," the director added. As a coach, Bruno Génésio began his career with modest French clubs Villefranche and Besançon, moved on to Olympique Lyon, made a significant impact at Rennes and Lille, and also managed Chinese club Beijing Guoan.
