In his post-match conference ahead of Mainz home game of Werder Bremen on Saturday, February 18, Coach Martin Schmidt reveals that Balogun has returned and impressed in training.

“Leon Balogun has been able to train fully, but the situation hasn’t changed for Niko Bungert,” Schmidt said on Thursday, February 16.

Balogun has only made 11 Bundesliga appearances for Mainz this season and is yet to find the net.

The Super Eagles defender will be hoping to return to action to help Mainz who are 12th in the Bundesliga table.
