Balogun played the 90 minutes as the visitors shocked the champions 2-1at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, March 2.

Jhon Cordoba scored the winner for Mainz after Arjen Robben had canceled Jairo Samperio’s opener.

Speaking after the game, Balogun said they played with three centre backs to have five bodies in midfield to stop the attacking Bayern full backs from attacking the spaces behind the midfielders and between the centre backs.

“We knew they (Bayern Munich) will have loads of possession but we are also very good at on the counter and the aim was to make use any counter attacking options we get,” the defender told Super Sports.

After the game, the four capped Super Eagles defender took to his Instagram to express his delight over the win.

"What a feeeeeeling!!! Super Mainzer, super Mainzer hey, hey, God is goooooood - thank you Jesus," the 27-year-old wrote.
