The top seed's hopes of retaining his title came to a halt in Jakarta as Tago held his nerve to secure a 21-16 15-21 21-16 victory and set up a clash with Jan O Jorgensen in Sunday's final.

Lee has won four of six Superseries events this season and had reeled off 14 consecutive victories, but he came unstuck against fourth seed Tago - who had lost 17 of his 18 matches against the Malaysian prior to Saturday's semi-final.

Not since his loss to Simon Santoso in the Singapore Open final in April had the 31-year-old suffered defeat, but Tago claimed the initiative in the opening game and, despite being pegged back, he rose to the occasion in the decider to leave himself just one victory away from his first World Superseries title.

Third seed Jorgenson accounted for Chen Long, the second seed, 21-19 21-18 in a hard-fought encounter.

There was little to choose between the two players in the opening game, but the Dane won three points in a row to go 1-0 up.

It was a similar story in the second game before Jorgenson took the second match point that came his way to seal his place in the final.

Li Xuerui will face Ratchanok Intanon in the women's final on Sunday after securing victories over Nichaon Jindapon and Wang Shixian respectively.

Top seed Li, striving to reach the BWF Superseries Masters Finals, saw off Jindapon 21-19 21-10 in just 37 minutes.

There will be no all-Chinese final, though, after teenager Intanon came from behind to get the better of second seed Wang 19-21 21-16 21-13.
