Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed the club's interest in signing Julián Álvarez, revealing that a formal offer has already been submitted to Atlético Madrid. However, the Catalan chief emphasized that the proposal comes with a time limit.

Laporta explained that Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, formalized the offer for the player, who, according to the president, is keen on a move to the Catalan giants. "We made this offer with full respect for Atlético Madrid," he stated, adding that he maintains strong institutional and personal relationships with Cerezo and Gil Marín.

Atlético Madrid's initial response was negative, citing a lack of an alternative for the forward. "They told us they weren't planning to sell because they didn't have an alternative, and I told them that if they did have one, our offer was firm," Laporta detailed.

The Barcelona president issued a clear warning, stating that the club would not wait indefinitely for a decision. "I hope that if they find an alternative, Atlético Madrid will consider Barcelona's offer. The offer is not open-ended; we will make our position on this matter known," he concluded.
