Coventry manager Frank Lampard praised his side's spirited display despite falling to a 3-1 defeat away against Tottenham in Premier League Matchweek 7. While applauding his players for their brave approach, the boss questioned the legitimacy of Spurs' second goal, scored by Omar Marmoush.
"I'm very pleased with the performance. We were right in the contest throughout. They scored two magnificent goals, although the second was contentious with a hand up in our player's face. The finish itself, however, was pure quality," Lampard began.
"I'm proud of our effort. The 3-1 scoreline is painful because of that final goal. We created several good opportunities. We wanted to start on the front foot because Tottenham always come out strong at home, even if they haven't always got what they deserved until now," the manager added.
"We were courageous, progressed the ball well, and got plenty of bodies forward into attacking areas. Individuals like Rudoni and Thomas-Asante showcased their quality. Eight of the boys were playing in the Championship last season, and they demonstrated just how much they have grown," he continued.
"I don't like looking at the fixture list and making calculations because every game in this league is tough. Are we satisfied? You always want more. We certainly feel there were a few more points out there for the taking," Lampard concluded.
