‘Buhari is a product of the APC, not its leader,’ Party chieftain says

National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lai Mohammed has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is a product of the party and not its leader.

Mohammed stated this on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, while speaking on Channels TV's Sunrise Daily.

The APC chieftain made the comment with regards to the current crisis in the party over its choice of National Assembly leaders.

Mohammed also stated that “the party has capacity to resolve its National Assembly leadership crisis.”

The trouble in the APC began after it chose Senator Ahmed Lawan as its candidate for Senate President and Femi Gbajabiamila for the Speakership of the House of Representatives.

The choice, made via a mock election, did not sit right with co-contestants, Senator Bukola Saraki and Reps member, Yakubu Dogara.

President Buhari has called a meeting of all the legislators in the party, to hold in Abuja on Tuesday, in a bid to end the crisis.

Meanwhile, both Saraki and Dogara have been adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its candidates.
