Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany, a former Manchester City captain, has declined to comment on the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding his former club, insisting he remains immensely proud of everything achieved on the pitch with the Citizens.
"I played for the club for 11 years and loved every single moment there. I am truly proud of everything we achieved and delivered on the pitch. As for everything else – as a player, you're not involved in that. And right now, as Bayern Munich manager, I don't really concern myself with the topic. My focus is on preparing for next week, on the game we have to win tomorrow, and everything else tied to my coaching duties," Kompany stated during his pre-match press conference.
The Belgian tactician then turned his attention to the upcoming fixture against Augsburg, describing it as crucially important after the Bavarians suffered a defeat against them last season.
"We had a full training session yesterday. We have a big game on Saturday, and the players looked extremely motivated. Now the focus is completely back on Bayern. They want to prove their quality constantly – both in training and in the upcoming match against Augsburg. I hope that momentum carries into the coming days. Jamal Musiala picked up an injury and is out, but aside from that, everyone returned fit from international duty."
"It is a very important game. Last year we lost only one match in the Bundesliga, and that was against Augsburg. After all, it's a derby, and an away fixture at that."
Kompany also refrained from speculating on his players' individual chances for the Ballon d'Or.
"I hope a Bayern player wins it. For me, though, the most important thing is winning everything as a collective. That is the priority for Michael Olise and Harry Kane too. That's what sets these players apart."
