UPDATE: The 19-year old student who allegedly tested positive to Ebola virus has been confirmed to free of the virus, having tested negative, confirmed reports say.

Reports have it that Kaduna may have recorded its first case of the Ebola virus as a 19-year old student of the Ahmadu Bello University has been diagnosed with the disease.

According to Premium Times, the PRO of the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, ABUTH, Bilyaminu Umar, confirmed the case yesterday Monday September 1st when contacted via phone; saying that the student was diagnosed at ABUTH, Shika, Zaria.

Said patient is reported to be a student of the Faculty of Law at the Ahmadu Bello University.

Meanwhile,there was panic at the Federal Capital Territory after a patient suspected of having Ebola died at the Asokoro Hospital. Test results are yet to confirm if said person did indeed die of Ebola.

199 patients are currently under surveillance in Port-Harcourt following the death of Dr Iyke Enemoah, a medical doctor who treated one of the diplomats who had primary contact with late Patrick Sawyer. 72 persons are also under surveillance in Lagos.
