Nigeria international striker Jude Ighalo has been shortlisted for the first PFA Fans’ Player of the Month Awards.

The striker has been in fantastic form for newly promoted Watford scoring four goals in the English Premier League.

In a list shortlisted by the expert panel of judges of , Ighalo faces stiff competition for the award Manchester United new boy Anthony Martial, ManchesterCity stars David Silva and Vincent Kompany, Leicester City  winger RiyadMahrez and WestHam forward DimitriPayet.

Graziano Pelle of Southampton, JamieVardy of LeicesterCity, CallumWilson of Bournemouth and AshleyWilliams of Swansea.

Sky Sports pundits PaulMerson, IanHolloway and PeterBeagrie are part of the PFA Fans Player of the Month panel.

They will be joined by MikeRiley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, and Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters Federation, as well as the winning fan from each month.

After the final weekend of league action, an even shorter list of leading contenders will be announced.

Voting will remain open until Wednesday, September 30 while the winner will be announced before the round of fixtures on October 3.
