After a fluttering start to the season, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been told that there will be no fund available to him in the January transfer window to reinforce his squad.

Mourinho avoided sack after his side’s 1-3 defeat to in the weekend with the club backing him to restore Chelsea to the top of the league.

A meeting was held after the game where Jose Mourinho received an official vote of confidence from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and the board.

“The club wants to make it clear that Jose continues to have our full support,” a Chelsea statement read.

“As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team's performances must improve.

“However, we believe that we have the right manager to turn this season around and that he has the squad to do it.”

Despite the backing Mourinho has been told that he will have to work with squad available to him now as funds will not be made available in the January transfer window.

Mourinho is currently in Portugal where he is visiting his sick father.
