Mikel Obi has been out of action since April when he had surgery for a lingering abdominal strain.
Following his recovery from injury, the midfielder played in Tianjin TEDA’s 2-0 home loss to Hebei CFFC in a Chinese Super League (CSL) game on Monday, August 14.

The 30-year-old played all 90 minutes but could not prevent a defeat for Tianjin TEDA.
His return, however, will be a big relief for the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles Rohr ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.
Following Super Eagles’ shocking 2-0 home loss to South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in June, Rohr is desperate to have his senior players for the games against Cameroon.
Mikel too is looking forward to returning to the Super Eagles for the World Cup qualifiers and is confident that Nigeria can qualify.
"We are in a very good position in our group. We have two wins from two games, and in our last game we beat Algeria at home,” Mikel told the official website of earlier in August.
“We have a very good young team and the players play good football. If we can win our next match (at home to Cameroon on 31 August) it will edge us closer to qualification. I think we can go through."
Nigeria will face host Cameroon in Uyo on Friday, September 1 before a return leg in Yaoundé on Monday, August 4.
