Ahead of the game against Zambia in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Mikel and Iwobi were among the Super Eagles players that faced the media in a press conference.
During the question and answer session of the press conference, Iwobi was asked if he was looking to take the No 10 jersey when Mikel Obi retires.
The question drew laughter from the two stars as Mikel playfully tapped Iwobi on his head.
“I don’t want to talk about this because as you can see, my captain is already slapping me,” Iwobi said to the amusement of everyone at the presser.
“But about the shirt, I’m not really bothered about the shirt. If I get number 10, I get it all I know is I’m here to represent my country and I’m proud to wear the colours,” the Arsenal star added.
Mikel later took the microphone and jokingly responded to Iwobi.
“Don’t worry, I will soon retire for you,” Mikel said.

Mikel was a victim of a snake-bite from Iwobi in training on Wednesday, October 4, an incident the Arsenal star was scared of talking about to avoid being slapped by the captain.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are preparing for their crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
A win will guarantee them a place at next year’s World Cup in Russia.
