Joel Bolomboy's Injury Status Revealed! Will Zvezda's Center Be Ready for EuroLeague Play-In?
Shortly after the second quarter began in the clash between Real Madrid and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, Joel Bolomboy collided with Ognjen Dobrić, landing awkwardly and sustaining an ankle injury.
The Red Star center remained on the court for a period before eventually leaving the game.
He did not return, which, understandably, raised red flags for Saša Obradović and Zvezda fans. This is particularly concerning given that the team from Mali Kalemegdan is set to face their eternal rivals in the ABA League derby this Sunday, followed by the EuroLeague Play-In tournament.
However, according to unofficial information obtained by Mozzart Sport, there's no need for alarm or panic.
Despite the awkward landing and Bolomboy's gestures and facial expressions, which initially suggested a more serious injury, examinations have revealed that the former Russian international avoided the worst-case scenario. He is now expected to play against Partizan, provided everything goes well in Saturday's training session. Of course, this is contingent on the match actually taking place.
It's worth remembering that Bolomboy missed a significant portion of the current competitive season due to a foot fracture, only returning at the beginning of 2026. This season, he has played just 14 EuroLeague games, averaging 5.9 points and 4.6 rebounds.
