Striker nets brace to keep Leicester on top
After a goalless first half, Vardy netted the two goals that gave Leicester City the three points at home.
Claudio Ranieri’s men started the game the brighter side as the attack Liverpool on the counter attack.
Just at the second minute, Shinji Okazaki fed Riyad Mahrez, whose shot went wide. Seven minutes later, Leicester nearly took the lead as Okazaki outjumped Dejan Lovre to head towards goal but was denied by an excellent save from Simon Mignolet.
Riyad Mahrez hit a cross towards goal in the 14th minute but was saved by Mignolet again while Robert Huth’s header went over the bar in the 29th minute.
Mahrez had Leicester’s best chance of the first half, beating James Milner before unleashing a fierce shot which was flicked over the bar by Mignolet.
Liverpool also had their chances. In 39th minute Alberto Moreno shot went wide when he was at a very position, a cross from Adam Lallana was nearly turned by Fuchs into his own net.
Jurgen Klopp’s men however started the second half brighter but Emre Can could not direct a shot on target.
Vardy struck in the 60minute, picking up a long pass from their own half before striking the ball from 25 yards, beating Mignolet to get a favourite for goal of the season.
They should have had a penalty soon after when Moreno clumsily bundled over Shinji Okazaki.
In the 72th minute, Vardy ensure all the three points were for Leicester City.
The loose ball fell to Okazaki whose shot was deflcted off the recovering Sakho into the path of Vardy. The inform striker was first to react and finished smartly past Mignolet.
