The 25-year-old tested positive for cocaine following a random drug test after Hull City's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in April.

Livermore who was banned from the two remaining matches of last season is said to have started using cocaine to deal with the the tragic loss of his new-born baby in May last year.

Daily Mail reports that the cause of Livermore's cocaine use has presented the FA with an unusual case and moral dilemma of what action to take.

The website reports that though they might still be a suspended sentence of some degree, Livermore is set to be allowed to continue his career.

His cocaine positive test usually attracts a maximum punishment of a two-year ban but the reports that the death of his child led him to the drug use could make him escape that kind of punishment.

Livermore started his career at North London club Tottenham and made his England debut against in a 2-1 win over Italy in August 2012.
