Nigerian appointed to lead group on flight data monitoring application
Various media reports have revealed that a Nigerian has been appointed as the lead and chairman of the FG AC WG-4 of the Focus Group on Aviation Applications of Cloud Computing for Flight Data Monitoring of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
Engineer Ifeanyi Ogochukwu, a former CIO at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), will be leading discussions at various level on a range of platforms, on the feasibility of using recent developments in commercial aeronautical data links services in addition to reusing existing infrastructure for real time flight data streaming where applicable.
According to a report by Nigeria CommunicationsWeek, the International Civil Avation Organisation (ICAO), had approached the ITU to utilize the expertise of the FG AC committee following the events surrounding the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
Completion of the task would be an important contribution towards the formation of international standards for the use of an aviation cloud for real-time cloud monitoring of flight data.
