An Italian tourist met his untimely death after trying a close up photo of an elephant.

An overzealous Italian tourist has reportedly been killed by an elephant after getting too close for a picture.

Malindi Police Chief, Muchangi Mutava, revealed that the 66-year-old victim saw the elephant at a watering hole at the Swara Camp in Kulalu ranch, located in Kenya's coastal region when he moved closer for a better view of the animal.

Unfortunately, in the process of taking a close up photo, the victim provoked the elephant which charged him, damaging his left leg.

Mutava added that the victim who sustained serious injuries to his leg died f at the camp. The victim reportedly left mid-breakfast with his wife to take a picture of the elephant.

The couple were scheduled to leave Kenya in October when their tourist visa would be expiring. Kulalu Ranch attracts tourists from around the world because of its wide range of wildlife.
