Government to create 700, 000 new jobs from eHealth

According to Andrew Kibirige Lutwama, eHealth Adviser at the Ugandan Ministry of Health, adoption of eHealth Private-Public partnerships will create more than 700,000 new jobs.

Lutwama made the statement while speaking at the fourth edition of the Vodafone Power Talks held at the Kampala Serena Hotel in Uganda , stating that eHealth has high socio-economic benefits for the country.

"The estimated socio-economic potential for eHealth is approximately $63m per year in the next five years with more than 600,000 new jobs in a private public partnership," Lutwama said.

The announcement makes sense for Uganda, a country with one of the highest unemployment rates on the continent, with  the possibilities of job opportunities in support services, private health facilities and health insurance services.

The Vodafone Power Talks is an initiative that is set up to bring together key players in the ICT industry to share knowledge and experiences on the transformative power of ICT in various sectors.
