Government bans use of cellphones in schools

The Osun State government has announced the ban on the use of cell phones and motorcycles by students in public secondary schools in the state. The announcement was made by the deputy governor of the state, Mrs. Titilayo Laoye-Tomori in Osogbo while speaking with educational stakeholders.

Laoye-Tomori who gave the order during the education stakeholders meeting with representatives from five local governments, stated that the ban became imperative in order to instill discipline in secondary.

The deputy governor advised communities to set up committees that would monitor the activities of pupils in their localities so as to mold better children and therefore better youths.

She said the unruly behavior of pupils in public secondary schools in the state, meant that if any student was caught with a cell phone, charms, or any other potentially dangerous objects would be expelled.
