Unknown gunmen abducts 70 year-old Pastor

A Church member who preferred anonymity, disclosed that both the victim’s family and church could not raise such ransom and appealed to the Ondo State government and security operatives to secure his release.

70 year-old pastor of Apostolic faith church, ilepa in Ikare Akoko, Reverend Japhet Obafemi has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Daily post reports that the clergyman was abducted along Auga Akunnu road, near Ondo-Kogi states border in Akoko north-east local government area of the state.

It was gathered that the kidnappers have contacted the family of the victim, demanding for a 16million naira ransom.

Pastor Obafemi had earlier been declared missing by his family and church members on Wednesday.

The caretaker chairman of Akoko north east local government, Alhaji Azeez Al-amam confirmed the incident.

Also confirming the incident, the divisional police officer, DPO in charge of the area, Mr. Musliyu Sogbade said efforts were being made to rescue the septuagenarian priest.
