1000 people apply for FG 135 teaching job

No fewer than 1000 applicants have reportedly applied for the Federal Government teaching job in Lagos.

The Head, Public Relations of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Seyi Akitoye made this known on Tuesday, November 28.

Akitoye said that the Universal Basic Education Council (UBEC) in Abuja wishes to recruit only 135 people but the board still received applications even after the Nov 24 deadline.

He added that the recruitment exercise is also being carried out in other states across the country.

“Criteria for selection include, possession of the National Certificate in Education (NCE); an applicant must not be above 40 years of age.

“Candidates should specialise in any of the following basic education subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Science, Vocational Education, Nigerian and foreign languages, Special education and Early Childhood and Development Education”.

Meanwhile, public notice on the recruitment exercise states that candidates who are currently working or receiving salary from any organization, public or private is not eligible to participate in the exercise.

Unemployment is a thing in Nigeria

The unemployment rate is very high in Nigeria and that account for the reason why government agencies usually have issues with the great number of people that come out to apply for any advertised recruitment exercise.
