Police launches "Character Verification Report" app
DelhiPolice Commissioner B S Bassi launched the forces' Web-based application for Character Verification Report (CVR) on Monday.
"With the help of this app, the applicants will be provided digitally signed CVRs within 30 days instead of 45 and more days that were consumed in the manual process," Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Garima Bhatnagar said.
In India the Special Branch of Delhi Police deals with verification of character and antecedents of candidates for employment in government, semi-government, public sector undertakings and other departments, according to NDTV Gadgets.
Character verification of employees of private firms can also be conducted on the request of employers concerned. Fee is charged from the employers for such verifications.
The Indian Police Force hopes the app will help save around 3-5 working days and Rs. 10,00,000-15,00,000 expenditure on issuing CVRs. Besides, it will also spare at least 20 persons out of 28 presently dealing with the CVR procedure in Special Branch alone.
According to a report by NDTV Gadgets, the app provides online facility for registration and filing of personal details and documentation for character verification report. It also handles multiple application submissions (up to 100) in a single click and payment can be done online.
